Gulf Diabetes Specialist Center is the region's first medical center devoted entirely to the treatment of diabetes and its related complications. The Gulf Diabetes Specialist Center is an outpatient medical center specifically designed to provide diabetes prevention programs and also multidisciplinary education and treatment for people with diabetes and their families. The facilities are run by specialists and cover the full range of functions from the management and treatment of adult and pediatric diabetes to metabolic disorders.
History
The center was opened under the patronage of the Prime Minister of Bahrain, Sh. Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa by Deputy Prime Minister, Sh. Abdulla Bin Khalifa Al Khalifa. The plan was developed and implemented to achieve the main goal. Work started to secure the land and the funding and realize Bahraini Government approval for the project. GULF DIABETES SPECIALIST CENTER was opened as an affiliate of the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston ,USA in Jan 2004. In December, 2008, GULF DIABETES SPECIALIST CENTER ,started to operate independently as it expanded services from covering diabetes only to covering all endocrinology disorders, including thyroid diseases and cancers, osteoporosis, and related disorders.

Gulf Diabetes Specialist Center was established in January 2004 as an outpatient medical center for the treatment of Diabetes and other endocrinology disorders. GULF DIABETES SPECIALIST CENTER uses a team approach for diabetes management, including specially trained physicians, a podiatrist, an exercise physiotherapist, dietitians, diabetes nurse educators and nurses. We offer a wide variety of education programs, classes, and support groups. to assist our patients

Dr Wiam completed his training in the USA. After an Internal medicine residency program and receiving the Best Resident Award, he continued his training in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at one of the leading centers in the USA, The Cleveland Clinic Foundation. There he received multiple awards, including a national award for his research and publications in his field. He returned to the Gulf area in 1998 and has established a world class center for Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Osteoporosis in Saudi Arabia. He has more than 10 years of experience in the USA and in the Gulf area. He comes to us with extensive experience in Thyroid diseases and cancer, Pituitary disorders, Obesity, Osteoporosis, Hirsutism, Hyperlipidemia as well as Diabetes, Insulin Pumps and all types of Endocrine disorders in adults. |
